"Sister 2 Sister" bracelets from our RS Sisters in the Santa Monica Stake put smiles on everyone's faces

I wanted to share this picture to tell you about the American sister on the far right. Her name is Sister Blum and she is a twin from Sandy, UT. Today in Relief Society she shared an interesting story with us. When she decided she wanted to go on a mission she started filling out her papers not having a clue what she would do to pay for this mission. She had tried to get several different jobs, but for one reason or another they all fell through. She had worked at a quilting shop when she was in high school and so she decided to make quilts and sell them to help fund her mission. Then one day she was on Temple Square and it came into her mind that she should go home and get her violin and play there. (She has played the violin since she was in first grade). So she went many times to Temple Square and played just outside the gates where all the "panhandlers" are. She opened her case and put out a little sign that read: "Saving For a Mission." The panhandlers were not happy with her being there and one of them even tried to chase her away, but she persevered and ended up making enough money to put with the quilt money and fund her mission. Sometimes we think (especially the Africans think) all Americans are wealthy and have no challenges and can have and do whatever, so it was interesting to hear her story.
