Ruth asked me if I would make the pumpkin pies,(I also made several apple) the dressing, and some cranberry sauce. I missed Mrs. Cubbison's stuffing mix and canned pumpkin, but after cooking the pumpkin fresh I actually think it makes a better pie. Never would have tried that, but since I had no other option I did and was happy that I did. The dressing was another story. . . . I did dry out the bread like my mom used to do, but I don't think I did so well on the seasonings. I couldn't find fresh cranberries to make cranberry sauce, but I did find some canned that wasn't too bad. The Africans had never tried it before. I think they quite enjoyed it. The American missionaries were very happy that the cooks would celebrate Thanksgiving for us. We all went around the tables and said one thing that we were thankful for. I said I was thankful that all of our kids and grandkids were together on this special family day.
