Fifteen Africans finish their training at the MTC and head to Kenya and Uganda

This was the second time that we have had only African missionaries here in the MTC. The other time was when it was the World Cup and the airline prices were too high to send people from other areas.

This was a great group! There were three of them who had lost both parents so they were able to do the work for them. We stood in proxy to seal their parents and then they were able to be sealed to their parents.

The third sister from the left was from the DRC and only spoke French. It was difficult for her to sit through all of the classes day after day and not really comprehend. We are not a language training MTC so I sometimes wonder why they don't send those who need English to another MTC. She was amazingly optimistic and cheerful through it all and had complete confidence that Heavenly Father would help her have the gift of tongues. When the three weeks were over she had really come quite a ways in spite of the language barrier.

Five of these missionaries were fairly new in the Church. All having joined in the past three years. Five of them were the only members in their family.
