Beautiful Victoria Falls - One of the world's 7 greatest natural wonders

We visited the Zimbabwe Mission last week and were able to take a couple of days and also see Victoria Falls. What a beautiful sight! They are on the Zambezi River bordering Zambia and Zimbabwe. These falls were discovered by a Scottish missionary doctor and Africa explorer, Dr. David Livingstone, in 1855. Livingstone named them after Queen Victoria. They call them "The Smoke that Thunders." The water was so high and the mist so intense that even with raincoats and umbrellas we came back to the hotel absolutely soaked! In some of the areas there was such a mist that we couldn't even see the falls. It was an amazing experience and we are so glad we were able to go. Bungee jumping from the bridge at Victoria Falls. There was such a mist it is difficult to see us. Viewing the beautiful sunset from the boat on the Zambezi River

We took a "Sunset River Cruise" down the Zambezi River in Victoria Falls. It was nice. We saw a few hippos, but no elephants which we had been told we'd probably see. The water level was pretty high. Dean kept thinking what if the motor on the boat stops working and we have to swim back in this water. Who knows what we might find!! :)

I love seeing the people of South Africa. So many of them don't have cars so they pretty much walk everywhere they go and that usually means that they don't go too far from home. Just to the shops and back, but it is so interesting to me to see the heavy loads they carry on their heads. We saw these people as we were having a taxi take us around Vic Falls trying to find the Church. We had googled it and they said there was one in a certain area, but we found out differently. No branch or missionaries in Victoria Falls.
We saw these cute kids taking a tour of the airport in Harare, Zimbabwe and just had to take a picture.

This is a beautiful park right in the middle of downtown Harare, Zimbabwe. The trees and sidewalks are in the shape of the British Flag under who's leadership they used to be until 1980. Prior to receiving their independence it was called Rhodesia.

  2. Just said that to get a "rise" out of someone. :) Don't think you'll ever catch either of us doing that!
